Forecasting the old?age dependency ratio to determine a sustainable pension age

چکیده

We forecast the old-age dependency ratio for Australia under various pension age proposals, and estimate a scheme that will provide stable at specified level. Our approach involves stochastic population forecasting method based on coherent functional data models mortality, fertility net migration, which we use to simulate future age-structure of population. results suggest Australian should be increased 68 by 2030, 69 2036 70 2050, in order maintain 23%, just above 2018 general can easily extended other target levels countries.

Dynamic immigration control improving inverse old-age dependency ratio in a pay-as-you-go pension system

a r t i c l e i n f o The sustainability of pay-as-you-go pension systems is a major concern in most European countries. Considering the inverse old-age dependency ratio (the proportion of the class of actives to pensioners) as a sustainability index, based on a classical demographic model, a new optimal control model is proposed where the sustainability index grows along a prescribed trajector...

The Old-Age Healthy Dependency Ratio in Europe

The aim of this study is to answer the question of whether improvements in the health of the elderly in European countries could compensate for population ageing on the supply side of the labour market. We propose a state-of-health-specific (additive) decomposition of the old-age dependency ratio into an old-age healthy dependency ratio and an old-age unhealthy dependency ratio in order to part...

Old age pension systems: A theoretical evaluation

The paper evaluates the theoretical literature on public pension schemes. First, the terms pay-as-you-go and capital reserve are made precise. These two systems are then compared, followed by a consideration of their efficiency properties. Thereafter conversion policies are discussed. JEL-Classification: H21, H55
